As part of the upgrading of the steel turning plate within the Newhaven Port facility, we were contracted by Mackley’s to remove the old, damaged, redundant turning plate. This was a steel frame structure in excess of 200 tonnes that needed to be removed in its entirety.
For us to be able to do this, we worked in conjunction with our specialist engineers and produced detailed, sectional drawings which allowed us to hot cut the structure into smaller, more manageable pieces which enabled us to lift them out safely. The sections were then reprocessed on the quayside.
Due to the constraints of the location, being the weather, tide, and interfering with the Newhaven to Dieppe ferry services, which could not be affected in any way by us, we worked closely with Mackley’s to ensure that the project was completed on time and to everyone’s satisfaction.
